I went to Afghanistan in 1976 and it remains one of my best love trips ever made. So good to read your “blog” and see your photos of Bande Amir – I have lost all my pics over many years of house moves – and like so many others, I was horrified and deeply saddened at the destruction of the great Buddhas. Would love to go back, so it is good to see that a few brave tourists are slowly drifting back again. Well done.

When i was ten i moved from kabul to europe.

Its feels good to see the beatuful site of Afghanistan.

Hey Carl,
This is much more beautiful than Grand Canyon! I actually admired the nature of Grand Canyon and other canyons but this is fantastic and amazing! Wish I can visit this great place someday(well, someday those ppl will fix up the mess, huh? ) Didn’t know that Afghans have such a wonderful thing in that country…hummm very very impressed! Ciao!

So glad to see your shots – honestly the one with the boats (all perfectly aligned) is absolutely insane. I think you should submit this to national geographic or a photo magazine. The colours are exquisite…
